Overview

Societies announce a few weeks into a term via email and the student press if they are opening applications for the following term. Directors then apply with a show they wish to stage, detailing their ideas for the production. If the director has not found a producer before the application stage, one is appointed as soon as possible.

The producer generally takes on the task of assembling a technical team by an-nouncing vacancies and interviewing applicants. The director holds auditions to fill the acting parts in the play.

Plays are usually rehearsed for about four weeks prior to opening. During this time the technical team have regular meetings to ensure all will run smoothly once in the venue, usually just a few days before the show is open to the public.
