FaceMediaGroup

[www.facemediagroup.co.uk] Friendly and efficient. The ADC Theatre have a credit account with them, so they're useful for productions at the Theatre and Playroom. Reasonable turnaround and reasonable prices.

JamJar Print

[www.jamjarprint.co.uk] Another one the ADC Theatre have an account with.

Stress-Free Print

[www.stressfreeprint.co.uk] Another good professional print house. Can do very short turn-arounds on good quality products with enough persuading.

Quattro-Print

printvend.net

[www.printvend.net] Cheap and reliable for production-sized orders. Bristol-based but free UK Delivery. Will turn all orders around in 3 working days (amazing) and very helpul with phone queries, which is always a bonus. 200 A3 Posters for aroun £64. A2 posters are comparatively very expensive, however.

University Reprographics Centre

University printers. Very friendly, very efficient, very quick and very happy to do really small print runs. Cheap as well. Can do orders on the day if not too complicated and will laminate. The Old Schools, Trinity Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1TN.

Blueprint

Local printers. 6 Clifton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7WG; tel: 472400

Maxim Display

Cambridge-based specialists in large-format printing: massive posters, banners, pop-ups, banner stands, signs, etc. Not yet used - but may be competitive for these tasks, should your show be considering a less common marketing strategy! www.maximcambridge.co.uk; Bluepoint House, Coldhams Road, Cambridge CB1 3EW; tel 401301

Century 23

Quite cheap, but not always the most friendly or reliable service. 3rd Floor, 54-55 Margaret Street, London, W1W 8SH; tel: 0870 752 1907. [www.century-23.com]

Fieldfare (Also trading as Vision)

Piggotts

Local printers. The Paddocks, Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge, CB1 8DH ; tel:404800.

Urban Design

Often the cheapest for flyer & poster printing. Units 1&2 Victoria Business Park, Short St, Southend on Sea, Essex, SS2 5BY. tel: 01702 601927.

UK Flyers

Particularly competitive if you want die-cut flyers (custom shapes). Suite 210, Victory Business Centre, Somers Road North, Portsmouth, PO1 1PJ. tel: 02392 293050. [www.ukflyers.com]

Digital Imaging Centre

This is a shop near Downing. (They MAY have disappeared/moved - please amend/delete this note if you know more.) They offered us £79 inc VAT for 150 A3 full colour posters (not full bleed - i.e. the colour does not go to the edge) and another £12 + VAT to remove the white borders.

TradePrint

Flyers & Posters. [www.trade-print.co.uk/] or 01279 626666. Reasonable prices and they were able to turn around from artwork to delivery in 5 working days - excellent. Quality is on the whole very good, although there were a very few dud flyers.

alocalprinter.com

[www.alocalprinter.com/] or 01903 742004. Good prices and, uniquely, ecologically friendly. We got 400 postcards (double sided) for around £70. They arrived quickly and the print quality was excellent. (This was on a digital, not litho press.) Also very helpful on the phone.

Print Carrier

[www.printcarrier.com/] Prices seem to be close to £100 cheaper for large (20,000) quantities of flyers, with good quality printing and sensible arrival times. The flyer paper doesn't feel as stiff as I'd have expected, despite choosing 250gsm.

Offsite Digital

[www.offsitedigital.co.uk] Seem generally keen to beat other quotes - so get a few from elsewhere then ring them and you might find they give you a good deal. Very competitive for less than 10 posters (e.g. if you want a couple of A2 or A1 sized) and reasonable, but not excellent, prices for more.

Upstream Printing

020 7207 1560 A Co-operatively run, environmentally friendly printing company; based in London. You can ask for Rebecca, who has some Cambridge connections and may be helpful if you mention you're a Cambridge show. Alternatively, ask for Duncan who's in charge of giving quotes. Quote for 5/10/20 full-colour A2 posters was *very* pricey - probably due to ethical business nature.

B-Loony

01494 793904 [www.b-loonypromo.com] Do all manner of interesting non-standard publicity material, e.g. balloons, keyrings, bags, umbrellas, stationary, mugs, etc, as well as clothing - not paper publicity though. Not used yet, but apparently been going a long time.

Print Wright

01473 240897 [www.printwright.com] Ipswich-based. Cold-called the ADC to offer their services - not used yet. As with most, they do a wide range of printing techniques, including less standard publicity media (stationery, books, CDs, etc). Can also do artwork design, bookbinding, and a variety of finishing techniques. Would be interesting to see how they compare on a real quotation.

Printrooms

Large UK printers offering good prices and also have a discount code: GOOG5 for 5% off. Web: [www.printrooms.net]
