Lover Boy
noon, Tue 16th Jan - Fri 16th Mar 2018 (Out of term) @ TBA

Looking for

Lover Boy needs a Director of Photography!

Consisting of six short episodes to be aired online, Lover Boy will chart the exruciating course of one Cambridge student's search for intimacy, set upon the all too familiar backdrop of essay deadlines and terrible parties. The plan is to film all six episodes (approx 8 minutes in length each) during Lent Term 2018 for distribution in Easter Term 2018.

If you're interested in the role, send an email to Elliott (elw60) or Gaia (gfl23) detailing any past experience (a few samples of previous work would be good) and any ideas you have about how the show should be filmed. The plan is to shoot it in a 'realistic' style (think The Office or Peep Show), but by all means feel free to suggest otherwise! Episode details available on request.

Applications close on 2nd January, but the sooner you can get your applications in the better!

Contact elw60@cam.ac.uk and/or gfl23@cam.ac.uk

Looking for

Piranha Heights is still looking for a costume designer!!

This is a hugely energetic play with a cast of 5 incredibly unique and crazy characters. In particular, we're looking for a costume designer who can help create the image of our Medic and Lilly - two teenage squatters who live in their own fantasy world, following a religion that worships Elvis.

We imagine that all their clothes are scraps and bits and pieces found from skips and the remains of Mr Samuel's flat (their squat) - collated together from the debris of society to form their new identities.

Email st649@cam.ac.uk with any questions / applications! Just drop me a line with any previous experience and what excites you about this play. Thank you!

Are there any cynics in paradise?

Production roles are now open for The Road to Nowhere (week 3 - Larkum and TBC Black Box)

We are looking for Techies who are interested in engaging with a new piece of student-writing:

A set Designer who wants to explore the oppressive enclosure of a cult.
A sound Designer who wants to pierce through the silences of the piece with sonic pertubation.
A lighting Designer who wants to engage with the text and illuminate its tonality.
A costume Designer who wants explore the visual representation of individuality under threat.
A stage Manager able to organise, delegate and liase between Cast and Crew.

Team Building Conference (Attendance Compulsory For All Employees)
9.30pm, Tue 13th - Sat 17th Feb 2018 (Out of term) @ Corpus Playroom

Looking for

Hello Students of Cambridgeshire University!

We’ve been told that most of you have gone home for the winter break (happy holidays!) but the corporate world never sleeps, eats or passes fluid, and so we are delighted to announce that we are offering CHRISTMAS INTERNSHIPS to a few lucky students!

Our new bosses Emmeline and Bella (along with Ruth from HQ) have threatened to dock our pay if we don’t source some high-achieving students for the following roles:

LIGHTING DESIGNER
We’ve been told that the Corpus Playroom Lecture Theatre only has two windows (alas!), and that our conference will have to take place after the watershed at 9:30pm for legal reasons. We therefore need a young technical whizz to shed some light on the situation (literally and biblically!) and help us avoid any lawsuits related to personal injury. Marko’s son Cathanial is also terrified of the dark, so finding someone to take on this role is vital.

SOUND DESIGNER
“Bang!” “Boom! “Lawsuit!” - that’s right, we’re talking sound. Our team building activities revolve around listening to one another, and what (we ask you) is vital in order to listen? That’s right: Sound. We’re looking for a young technical whizz to shed some sound on the situation, and help those ears do what they do best - listen!

PROJECTIONIST
Steve from IT is on leave until April, so we need a young technical whizz to help us run our nationally acclaimed Powerpoint presentations. You will be given your very own “clicker” in order to navigate the PoPoPre (Power Point Presentation !) No experience necessary, but you must gain at least half marks in a written examination on fonts and slide transitions before we can offer you the role. (If you’d like to have a look at some practice papers, please contact our secretaries Ania and Ruby)

To apply for any of these internships, please send a written application to Ruth from HQ at rh632@cam.ac.uk detailing your suitably for the role and any O Levels you think might come in handy.

Looking forward to hearing from you (via email)!

The Lieutenant of Inishmore
7pm, Tue 20th - Sat 24th Feb 2018 (Out of term) @ Corpus Playroom

Looking for

We are looking for a technical team to bring The Lieutenant of Inishmore to the Corpus Playroom!

Blood! Guts! Cats! Exploding cats! Guns! Swift scene changes!

Mad Padraic is hard at work torturing a drug pusher up North when the news comes through that his beloved cat, Wee Thomas, is poorly. So instead of slicing off some nipples, as planned, he heads back to the island of Inishmore. But when he arrives home, he discovers shenanigans involving shoe polish, an assassination plot, and a teenaged gun-toting admirer. Soon the bodies start piling up.

Email your application to Megan at md671@cam.ac.uk, with:

1. Any experience you may have, either in a technical position or in theatre in general.
2. For stage manager specifically: what you think the technical challenges in the play may be, and how you would grapple with them.
3. Anything from the play you're excited to bring to life.

Boys Will Be Boys
11pm, Wed 21st - Fri 23rd Feb 2018 (Out of term) @ ADC Theatre

Looking for

The different settings and scene transitions which distinguish them are vital for Boys Will Be Boys to be visceral in the way it needs to be for the writing to have its desired impact.

As well as separating the spaces, there are also opportunities for creating satisfying parallels between the scenes; a central thread which articulates these spaces as ones which have been made to serve powerful men (The City office, the strip club, the high-end Hotel bar, the cabaret club etc.).

If you have found yourself observing these dynamics and becoming frustrated by them, then getting involved with the technical elements of this show might be your way to expose them in a physical, unforgiving way; to stand up creatively to sexism in the built environment. If you'd like any more information about the play or have any ideas, please get in touch.

I'm accepting applications in lots of forms so if you'd feel more comfortable meeting up in person to describe your ideas, then just drop me an email. (I am dyspraxic so totally get it can be rlly difficult to translate spatial ideas into a linear written email). If you'd prefer to write your application or send me drawings with annotations or have a typed conversation, those are all options too.
